Chandigarh: Nearly 1,500 AISSF workers marched in 20 trucks and other vehicles to Chandigarh to hand over a Memorandum to the Chief Minister, Surjit Singh Barnala. On November 1, the marchers included family members of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Bhai Amrik Singh and other martyrs. After attending Bhog in S. Beant Singh’s village, they marched towards Chandigarh but were not allowed by the Union territory administration to enter the city. The memorandum sought release of Sikh young men and those who had left their Army units. However a senior member of Barnala’s Cabinet, S. Basant Singh Khalsa personally went to the marchers to receive the memorandum on behalf of the Chief Minister.
