AMRITSAR: With the intervention of the Sikh clergy, the crisis in the AllIndia Sikh Students Federation (Amritsar), which witnessed a vertical split at Jalandhar on December 26 has blown over and unity achieved.

At their marathon meeting with the Sikh clergy in the chamber of Akal Takht last week, the ad-hoc committee members disbanded both the factions led by Jasbir Singh Ghuman and Harminder Singh Gill, and forged unity.

The following have been nominated office-bearers of the Unified All-india Sikh Students Federation (Amritsar), president – Kamail Singh Pir Mohammed vice presidents – Bhupinder Singh and Parminder Singh gencral secretary Rajbir Singh Secretary Gurdip Singh Najowal joint secretary – Surinder Singh and office secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka

In the presence of the Sikh clergy, they admitted in black and white that they could not honor the commitments given to the high priests and tendered an unqualified apology for their past mistakes. They pledged to work honesty for the welfare of the organization and not lo violate the discipline as they did in the past

In another written pledge, they swore to rise above factionist, and to perform their responsibilities for the ascendency of the organization.

In yet another pledge, they promised to abide by every directive of the Sikh clergy without any “ifs ands or buts.”
