JAKARTA, Jan. 4, Reuter — An Air India jumbo jet made an emergency landing in Bali after being told there was a bomb aboard, an airport official said on Wednesday.

The Boeing 747, carrying 259 passengers and 22 crew, landed safely at Ngurah Rai Airport late on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a tip from Singapore where a caller had said an explosive was on board the flight to Sydney.

The official, speaking “by telephone from Bali, said the plane was being searched and passengers accommodated in a beach hotel on the tropical resort island.
