NEW DELHI: The IOA can now go ahead with the first-ever Afro Asian games in New Delhi

The sports ministry has told TOA that it has no objection to the proposal when the apex body for Indian sports wants to conduct it and is prepared to raise funds for the purpose an IOA source told PTI here.

It is now for the IOA executive council at its meeting here on May 16 to take the next step.

According to the source it will be possible to hold the games originally scheduled to be held from November 17 only around February next year.

The disciplines in which competitions will be held are: Athletics Basketball Boxing Football Handball Hockey Judo Tennis Volleyball Weightlifting and Wrestling.

The best in Africa and Asia will be competing and India the host will be given direct entry to every event though it will be considered part of the Asian contingent.
