NEW DELHI: Two top leaders of the Rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party leader, L. K Advani and Atal Behari Vajpayee, have resigned their New Delhi and Vidisha Lok Sabha seats respectively.

While Advani retained the Gandhinagar scat in Gujarat, Vajpayee kept the Luck now Lok Sabha constituency.

The two leaders have informed the speaker, Rabi Ray, in writing about their decision, the Lok Sabha secretariat sources said on Thursday.

Under the representation of the peoples act, a candidate who has won from more than one constituency can retain only one and has to inform the speaker about his decision within 14 days of the announcement of the results.
