CHANDIGARH, Indi: L.K. Advani, President of the Bhartiya Janata Party, wanted the immediate imposition of the President’s rule, in Punjab, Addressing newsmen. Mr. I said that Presidential rule will not solve the Punjab problem but it will certainly be step in the right direction. This will ensure the accountability at some level in the government.
Mr. Advani said that Punjab problem is neither a purely political nor a law and order issue but the situation certainly poses a direct threat to the integrity and unity of the country » and far graver implications than were being realized:
