INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF GURMAT STUDIES, INC. (G8), is pleased to announce its 30th Sikh International Youth Camp USA at Gurdwara Bridgewater, New Jersey from Sunday July 2, 1989 to Sunday July 9, 1989. The camp is being sponsored by The Garden State Sikh Association, Inc. of New Jersey.

This Camp

Through this thirteenth camp in the United States. IGS plans to reach out to another 125 young Sikh girls and boys to provide them an opportunity to learn how to live according to the teachings of our Ten great Gurus.

Sikh Fundamentals

Beginning with an expose on the fundamental tenets of the faith, the camp curriculum will cover the history of the Sikh religion, an acquaintance with the scriptures and the sociocultural aspect of the Sikh way of life.

Workshops

Besides, the camp will provide avenues for the young Sikhs to learn Gurdwara etiquettes, practice selfless service, Naam Simran and develop group consciousness, self-discipline, leadership qualities and the art of public speaking; Practical workshops will include classes in Shabad Kirtan, Gurmukhi, and Turbancying.

 

 

 

Fun and Games

Morning walk and run sessions, outdoor games, trekking, a picnic, and a campfire will ‘add to the enjoyment of the camp experience. Plus excellent food from Guru Ka Langar.

Camp Accommodation

 Situated on beautiful hill slopes covered with lovely trees, Gurdwara, Bridgewater forms an ideal 5) location for a camp such as this. Campers will be housed in the tents as well as in the rooms.

Trained Counselors

Trained lady and gentlemen counselors will look to the needs and comfort of the campers.

Camp Memento

On the last day of the camp, each camper will be presented with an attractive personal camp memento and a certificate of participation.

CAMP FEES: U.S. $150.00 per child. Please make your check payable to the IIGS 30th Camp.

ELIGIBILITY: Those of the young Sikh girls and boys who are desirous of learning the Sikh way SELECTION: The number of seats being limited to 125, applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. The camp management reserves the right of reject any application without assigning any reason. Selected applicants will be sent complete joining instructions by May 31, 1989. For applications not gaining acceptance, Camp Fee will be refunded,
