CHANDIGARH: A new kind of police terrorism has appeared in Chandigarh and Punjab. The powerful police officers whose word is law have been forcing brilliant Students to impersonate for their wards in different examinations. Seats for medical and engineering courses are limited and students have to appear in combined en trance tests to qualify for admission.
Police officers have struck upon a unique way to make it possible for their wards to clear the tests and get admission to the much sought after courses. The police officers not only locate the brilliant students who should appear for their wards but also prepare fake identity cards for them and provide for the necessary muscle power to back up the pain. Thus last week, several students of the local Punjab Engineering College “wanted” by the police had to go underground to escape the strange educational adventure. Since the entrance test for engineering coincided with the wanted students own semester examinations, they thought it prudent to leave the examinations to vanish from the scene.
