LUDHIANA: The Dehlon police are allegedly harassing the residents including women of the village at the instance of the sarpanch and his “musclemen.”
The CPM MLA of the area Assam Jodhan is finding himself helpless in raising his Voice against the alleged police repression.
About 100 men and women of Dehlon village came to The Tribune sub-office last week to narrate their tale of woes
On the night of July 7 the police panty came with Mal Singh. On inhering the house Mal Singh started beating up his younger brother’s wife Gurmeet Kaur who was pregnant. During the beating she had a miss Camage.
Mohinder Kaur 55-year-old mother of Bhagwan Singh said that on July 8 Mal Singh again came to their house with home guard Virinder Kumar She alleged that Virinder Kumar embraced her and tried to assault her He was caught and Jodhan was summoned who handed him Over to the police
Other women of the village complained that they were summoned to the police station and the police would give them beating with rifle Ducts in the presence of the Sarpanch. A majority of the harassed residents belong to the backward and Scheduled Castes. Mr. Jodhan said the SSP had deputed Paramjit Singh Khaira DSP to hold an inquiry into the matter. He demanded that the guilty police officials should be punished
