MADRAS (PTI): Doyen of south Indian film industry L. V. Prasad died at the age of 87 at a city hospital in Madras capital of the southern Indian state of Madras last week.

Being unwell he had been admitted to the hospital a few days ago according to family sources.

He was noted for his creativity and had produced and directed several films even during the era of silent films. He had also produced several Hindi films

Prasad won several awards including the Dada saheb Phalke award and established the Prasad studios at Madras besides film labor atones at Hyderabad Madras Bangalore Noida near Delhi and in Orissa

He had also set up an eye hospital in Hyderabad capital of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

SIFCC president SV RM Ramanatha said Prasad had traversed from humble beginnings tit the industry through all segments to reach the Pinnacle of Indian cinema. There will not be another saga as his” he said.
