LUDHIANA: Tarsem Lal Jodhan, member of Punjab Assembly belonging to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) was beaten up, in Circuit House here on April 17 when he went there in connection with the visit of the National Human Rights Commission that, however, was postponed.
While Jodhan alleged he was beaten up by Gunmit Singh, Political Secretary to Chief Minister Beant Singh denied this but his supporters took the blame on themselves and said they reacted because the MLA had abused them.
Interestingly, two Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers, General Assistant to Deputy Commissioner Manjit Singh Brar and SDM Payal N.S.’ Walia were also present on. The spot but they chose not to intervene.
