CHANDIGARH: Shiromani Akali Dal President Prakash Singh Badal last week called for a definite and decisive national initiative to solve the long-standing problems of Punjab.
Addressing reporters at a Meet the Press function at the local Press Club Badal said that he would soon visit Delhi to enlist the Support of all non-Congress parties 10 put pressure on the Government to find a permanent sentiment to the Punjab problem. One of the problems he said was that Successive Congress Governments in Delhi and Punjab have violated the Indian Constitution by denying Punjab its legitimate rights. In this regard he mentioned the river water issue which he said was against the interests of the State Badal said that the Congress Party has blocked all efforts to punish the guilty of 1984 riots During my visit to Delhi i will try to persuade the Opposition to move a resolution in this session of Parliament and express my strong condemnation of the 84-riots.
Badal said that the defeat of the Congress in Ajnala despite the Party’s rampant misuse of official machinery money and muscle power has clearly vindicated that the politics of corruption will not be tolerated by the people.
