CHANDIGARH: A score of advocates fear danger to their lives at the hands of Indian Police They wrote to the chief justice of Indian Supreme Contest week that a number of advocate’s have been abducted by the police and killed in mysterious circumstances They have requested the chief justice to order immediate enquiry into the roatter The four-page letter was released by the advocates here. They sought an enquiry by a sitting judge of Indian Supreme Court They asked the chief justice to investigate in particular the role of the state government in the matter of abductions of the advocates. Most of the advocates who fear danger to their lives have been conducting human rights cases in Indian country.
The letter lists six to seven cases. The abducted advocates include Ranbir Singh Mansahia (Bathinda) Jaswinder Singh Kapurthala Kulwant Singh and his family (Ropar) Sukhwinder Singh Bhatti (Sangrur) The letter expresses the fear that Bhatti will meet the same fate as other advocates met The advocates have listed 13 advocates of Punjab and Haryana high court and 15 of Chandigarh and district courts of Punjab
The high court advocates marked for elimination by the police are PS. Hundal A.S. Chahal Ranjan Lakhanpal R.S. Bains Balwant Singh Giuliani Navkiran Singh Prof Bhupinder Singh Harbhajan Singh Baldev Singh Brar Daljit Singh Rajput. Ashok Chauhan Rajiv Singh Walia and has hinder Singh. The others include Jagmohan Singh Saini Barpinder Singh Sodhi Santokh Singh Gill Sarbjit Singh (Ropar) Gurjiwan Singh G.S .Bal Harjit Sandhu Ajit Singh Bhangu Amarjit Singh Shergill Balbir Singh Cheema Jagmohan Singh Gajjan Singh Rajinder Singh Dhami Anil Kanshak and Nikka Singh.
