NEW DELHI (PTI): The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) last week launched a scathing attack on economic policies accusing the Narasimha Rao government of landing the country in a debt trap and staring the process of “Dunkelisation” which it said would hill the common man hard. The panty warned of disastrous consequences if the government failed to mend its ways. Initiating a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the general budget senior BJP member Prof Ram Kapse said the present management in the country needed to be changed as it had landed the nation in an unenviable position by pursuing wrong economic policies
Describing the budget as “anti-Poor” he said the proposals had spelt death knell for the small scale industry with a large number of units being closed day after day
Warning the government against signing the Dunkel draft next month the member said people were agitated on the issue and their anger would grow if such a Step was taken.
He said the government had gone in for a cut in food Subsidy at a time when as many as 900 Starvation deaths were witnessed in Orissa and Maharashtra.
