WASHINGTON DC; Professor Manjit Singh Ji, (Jathedar Akal ukhat Sahib, Amritsar, Punjab, India) was kind enough to inaugurate the Guru Nanak International Sikh Reference Library, on Aug. 14. 1994 at Washington, D.C This library, is located at the International Sikh Secretariat Building, adjacent to the main Library of Congress, (1 14-ardst SB) Washington, D.C, Many thanks are due to the untiring efforts of S Diddar Singh Bains of California, who is presently president of the World Sikh Organization international, and which have produced some significant results that Wall he helpful to the Sikhs living all over the world, At this function over 100 guests from all over the World Were present.
- Harbans Singh Bhag of New York. Introduced the Jathedar Singh Sahib Ji, while the whole function was handled by S. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon of California. Among other prominent Speakers were S. Jagir Singh Bains, Dr, Kanwaljit Kaur Sethi, and Dr. Gurmeet Singh Aulakh. Dr. Rajinder Singh Bajwa of McLean, Virginia, presented the historical Significance of the Akal Takhat Sahib as a formal symbol of Miri- Pin Doctrine in Sikhism. Sharan Singh from the office of Honor- able Congressman Vic Fazio from California was also recognized.
- Harbhajan Singh Pandoori, President of the Ontario Khalsa Diwan, Toronto, and S. Bikar Singh, president of the Hamilton Gurdwara, Canada paid glowing tributes to Sri Singh Sahib. Finally, S. Lachman Singh Aujla resident supervisor of the International Library presented asaroopa to our chief guest Si Singh Sahib Ji, A detailed report covering this historic event Will follow next week.
