NEW DELHI: The outlawed Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has mounted a severe assault on the judiciary with a warning to the Supreme Court not to “exceed its limits” by dillydallying on the Ram Janmabhoomi issue.
Addressing a Press conference here on April 9, Vishnu Hari Dalmia and Girija Kishore, VHP president and joint general secretary respectively, assailed the apex court for attempting to “arrogate the power of the executive.”
They observed that the Ayodhya issue had so far eluded a solution: only because of the delay in court judgment. “Justice delayed is justice denied,” Girija Kishore said. Asked whether the VHP would accept the apex court’s verdict on the, temple issue, he categorically said, the judiciary has no jurisdiction over the Ram Janambhoomi.””
Kishore cautioned the court not to overstep its limits. He said that the Bajrang Dal the VHP youth wing had been instructed to raise & massive army of volunteers to capture the Ram Janmabhoomi site. “One person from every family will be listed during the membership drive,” he said. Such volunteers will be administered to pledges to commit themselves to the cause of the temple. The VHP leaders rejected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav’s appeal to wait for the court judgment.
“Mulayam Singh should also urge the court to give its verdict without any further delay,” the VHP leader said. Indicating a toughening of posture, he said. “We will remove the obstacles in our path.” Following the sants” campaign on the Ram Janmabhoomi and other issues between Vijaya Dashami and Diwali, the VHP will organize Maha Vishnu Yagna at Ayodhya between November 5-9.
