NEW DELHI: Two separatist groups from the violence torn states of Kashmir and Punjab claimed responsibility, last Sunday for an election day bus bombing that killed 15 people in Modi Nagar of Uttar Pradesh.
Throughout the country, at least 20 people died in violence related to month-long national elections that began Saturday, but officials said the disturbances were less widespread than in previous elections.
Another five people were killed elsewhere and scores injured in election violence Saturday, officials said.
Polls published before the election predicted the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata party would finish ahead of the ruling Congress Party, which has governed India for decades.
