- Mota Singh Thiara, President of Gridley, Live ‘Oak Gurdwara Sahib, passed away peacefully on January 12, 1996.
- Mota Singh Thiara was born in 1912 at Village Dhakowal Dist. Hoshiapur (Punjab) India, He was 8 well educated man and was devoted to the Sikh Religion, Ho remained about 10 years in Delhi and rendered ‘various services al Gurdwara Sis Ganj and other historical Gurdwaras of Delhi.
In 1949 Mr. Thiara came to USA and first settled in Stockton and worked as Ex, Member of the Pacific Coast of Khalsa Diwan Society, the historical Sikh Gurdwara of Stockton, He was also an active member of Gadar Party of India in San Francisco, CA, In the year of 1967 he moved to Yuba City, California and he was an active Executive member of Gurdwara Sahib of Yuba City. He was highly respected for having a sportsman like spirit. Mr. Thiara was founder and first President of Gridicy Live Oak Gurdwara Sahib. He died with a heart full of Peace as he had attended Gurdwara of Live Oak on the day before his death. He made liberal donations for the World Sikh Newspaper also was an active member of the World Sikh Organization of USA. His death is a great loss to the Sikh Community, Sardar Thiara leaves his loving family including his wife Bibi Puran Kaur, ‘one daughter Gian Kaur Bains, her husband Balbir Singh Bains (Yuba City), son Harbhans Singh Thiara, and wife Irine (Stockton), Late Satbir Singh Thiara and Param) jit Kaur (Live Oak), Grandchildren Kamalprect Singh Thiara, Harbhans Singh Jr., Fesha Thiora, Mukhtiar Singh Bains, Harkeet Bains and Prabjot Bains. Harbans Singh Pamma, Malkit Singh Gosal, Piara Singh Gosal family, $, Balbir Singh Bains, Tiara Uppal, Bardial family of USA all Members of the Thiara family of Yuba City and Live Oak, S. Lachman Singh Aujla of Canada and family have expressed deep sorrows on the death of Sardar Mota Singh Thiara.
