CHANDIGARH: There is every livelihood of Indian government shifting K.P.S.Gill out of Punjab in the wake of world-wide criticism of violation of human rights Of Sikhs by Indian security forces,
K.P.S.Gill, along with chief minister Beant Singh, is regarded by most people as a symbol of repression of Sikhs by India. Hints have been dropped by Indian authorities that K.P.S.Gill is required in Assam to deal with ULFA militants, first information was given out that the Assam government wants the two battalions of Punjab police. Subsequently, it was clarified that the Punjab police had no special knowledge of the area and that it is not needed there. However the Services of K.P.S.Gill are required in Assam to handle the law and order situation.
K-P.S. Gill may well be aware of his fate. He may also be interested in taking his gunmen along from Punjab for his personal safety the manner of his withdrawal from Punjab appears designed to cover up his humiliation, according to observers.
Political observers feel that it will not be too long before chief minister Beant Singh, too, is pulled out. ‘The withdrawal of the two many well is a part of the original Indian Design for Punjab. But, it is being put into operation a little prematurely to appease the world public Opinion. Most observers had, in fact, predicted long ago that Beant Singh and Gilt would be thrown SUL as soon as India achieved its ask. Both have a $.11.0.s (station house officer) image in Punjab.
As an indication of the forthcoming events, the Punjab government has withdrawn a helicopter from K-P.S. Gill and ordered that Gill Will not use the helicopter, a facility that had placed the police chief in special category of important persons.
