LUCKNOW: Banaras Hindu University scene of students-police Clashes on Feb.13 was closed on Monday and students were asked to vacate the hostels within 24 hours.

The decision came after a meeting of the University consultative committee a University spokesman said. Two students have been arrested in connection with Sunday’s clashes

The two other Universities in the temple city-Kashi Vidhyapeeth and the Sampuran and University-and Other educational institutions have been closed till further orders authorities said. District Magistrate Netam said a magistenal inquiry has been ordered into the incidents.

Seventeen students and several policemen were injured when students clashed with the police in the campus on Sunday. The violence had sparked off following the death of a student Mano. Kumar in the campus hospital Angry students alleging negligence by the doctors went on rampage damaging furniture and manhandling the medicos

The resident doctors retaliated beating up students Meanwhile the police and security forces armed ensuing in clashes between the police and students. The police lath charged the students lobbed tear gas shells and fired number bullets injuring the students. According to the police the students had opened fire.

Two seriously injured students have been shifted to Allahabad Medical College. Meanwhile Rajindra Envied president of the Poor vanchal Students Union decried the police action on the students.
