NEW DELHI: By appearing before Akali Takhat for apology for his role in rebuilding Akal Takhat former Indian home minister Buta Singh appears to be trying to put pressure on Prime Minister Rao to accommodate him in his government according to political observers. His exoneration by Akal Takhat will give Buta Singh more than one option in his personal power game. If he does not get a seat in the Rao majority the Dalit leader might even cross over to Kanshi Ram led Bahujan Samaj Party as its leader in Punjab. Kanshi Ram is said to be searching for prominent Dalit leaders in various states for a U.P. type upheaval. He has already identified former minister in the Indira government Shiv Shankar possible role in Andhra Pradesh.

The reoneration gives Bulla Singh Sufficient respectability to make a foot-hold in Punjab after the deface of his relations to win any seat in the recent elections from Rajasthan.
