CHANDIGARH: While the various Akalis factions and Human Rights Organizations have welcomed the United States President William Clintons statement about Sikhs rights and struggle ed it has an achievement for the cause of Khalistan independent Sikh sovereign stated the Indian Government has rejected US presidents remark which for a solution in Punjab what protects Sikh rights and has asked the Indian Ambassador in the United State Mr .S. S. Ray to express Indias concern on this matter to the authorities of United States The Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann) has welcomed the statement of US President and urged the authorities of United Kingdom Canada France Japan China and Germany to intervene in similar manner and pressurize the Indian Government to protect the Sikhs rights and Stop intervening in the internal affairs of Separate Sikh sovereign State Khalistan. According to Akali Dal (Mann) after the US President William J. Clintons remark the struggle of the Sikhs has been recognized by the Super Power of the world. The Akali leaders Mr Amrit Pal Singh Nakai and Mr. Iqbal Singh Tiwana have also urged the US President extend full support for the cause of Sikh Nation the Akali leaders further said that the Indian Government treat Sikhs like slaves and animals.
While welcoming the statement of US President the Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO) Chief Mr-Ajit Singh Bains said that the Punjab problem is a political one and not a problem of law and order He expressed his happiness over the recognition of Human Rights Violations by the Super Power and appealed to him to interfere and restore the Sikhs rights.
The Akali Dal (Badal) leader Mr P.S. Chandumajra has also welcomed the statement of US President William J. Clinton and hoped that this statement will pressurize the Indian Government to stop further excesses on Sikhs He Said that the basic right-Personal Liberty of Individual is being violated in the Punjab and voice should be raised on time against the excesses.
Capt Kanwaljit Singh of Akali Dal (Longowal) was of the view that US President Clintons statement js just an addition to the Human Rights Organization opinion about the Punjab. In a reply to & question he said It is just a premature assumption to say that US President has recognized the Sikh Nation. Meanwhile the spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs warned that official pronouncements & communications by the US Government including the largest level of this kind could not but has a negative impact on our bilateral relations. The spokesperson said that we do not accept external prescriptions in this regard. We reject any statement that speaks of a solution that protects Sikh nights he added.
