CHANDIGARH: The all-India BRU president, Bhupinder Singh Mann Jan.16 decried the anti-farmers and taken by the governments at the Center and in Chandigarh.
Addressing a press conference, Mann said the farmer in Punjab had been burdened with hikes in power tariff and a cut in the milk procurement price.
The BKU had decided to observe Jan.24 as a protest day in Punjab in protest against the remunerative prices for farm and dairy produce and an unchecked hike in the cost of agricultural inputs. No farmer would sell any Produce in the markets on that day. The farmers have been asked not to market milk, fodder, vegetables, food grains etc on that day.
The BKU planned to go in for Mass arrests in Chandigarh from Jan.31 for at least one month to focus attention on the Congress government’s “anti-farmer” policies.
