JAMMU: The persons were killed and 10 others seriously, when a powerful time bomb exploded in a bus (JK 024936) near Parmandal Morh, on the Jammu Pathankot National Highway, on Dec. 10. The time bomb, kept in one of the rear seats, exploded at 12:30 pm, as the bus neared Parmandal Morh on way to Pathankot.
‘The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Masood Chaudhary, when contacted on phone, said that as per the preliminary findings, the ill-fated bus was on an unscheduled’ trip from Jammu to Pathankot to pick up a marriage party from there. It left Jammu at around 11:30 am and picked up most of passengers on route. ‘The bus was parked in the Shastri Nagar, on Friday night, and the bomb may have been planted there. ‘The three deceased who are yet to be identified include a lady and two employees of the Border Road Organization. The seriously injured were shifted to the Medical College Hospital, at Jammu. They include the driver and the conductor of the bus. The injured have been identified as Sartaj Singh, conductor of the bus, son of Babu Ram of Amritsar, Farooq Ahmed, son of Noor Mohammed of Basholi, Mangu Ram, son of Natha Ram of Mirzapur, Punjab, Baba Singh, son of Karan Singh of Jakhani, Sujanpur, Punjab, Baba Singh son of Santa Singh of Rampur, Gurdaspur and Shankar Singh son of Rashpal Singh of Noorpur Kangra, Police officials rushed to the spot immediately after the blast and, further investigations were in progress.
