HYDERABAD: The National Front Left Front combine will emerge as the biggest force and a major political axis after the present Assembly elections and those in four other states early next year, former Prime Minister VP Singh has said.
The country needs the NFLF combine for strengthening the secular and democratic forces, he said addressing a public meeting.
The Congress was sure to receive a beating in the Andhra Pradesh and Kamataka elections in the next round, the former prime minister predicted. With left front governments in West Bengal and Tripura and its wresting power in Kerala in the next elections Congress would be nowhere, he said.
Describing Congress and BJP as communal for their role in mosque, Singh described Congress as the bodyguard of BJP and to hit it, Congress must be felled first.
“‘And to defeat Congress, don’t think of the qualities of the candidates of Opposition parties. Punish the Congress with a strong blow on its face and for that any stone would do,” he said.
Congress had already admitted its defeat by declaring that it was not a referendum on the rule of P.V. Narasimha Rao. Even the stability slogan was not correct as no Congress State Government was as stable as that of Jyoti Basu, Laloo Prasad Yadav or Biju Patnaik, he said. Only corruption became established in the Narasimha Rao rule.
