NEW DELHI: Last minute intervention by the Supreme Court, on Noy.14 night, helped the human rights activist Justice (retd) Ajit Singh Bains to proceed to Nepal, to supervise the elections there as an international observer.
The specially constituted Bench of Justice B.P. Jeevan Reddy and Justice S.C. Sen made it clear in their order that Justice Bains, a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, should be allowed to go to Nepal in view of the invitation sent to him by the National Election Observation Committee 1994, to oversee the elections as an observer. Justice Bains will be returning to In November 19.
