CHANDIGARH: While a shadow has been cast on the completion of the Thein Dam on schedule in the wake of resources munch, the Center is learned to have approved the revised estimates and agreed to allocate an additional amount of Rs 600 crore for the completion of the Satluj Yamuna link canal which is to carry waters to Haryana from Punjab rivers. ‘The work on this carrier channel was stopped after the gunning down of its chief engineer in 1990 and the Punjab Government has no intention of resuming construction for the time being though the Chief Minister, Beant Singh, has persistently maintained that he was not opposed to its completion: in principal. An amount of Rs. 500 crore has already been spent on this project.
