CHANDIGARH: Satwant Singh Manak, a black cat commando of Punjab Police, sought prosecution of large number of police officers including the top brass for eliminating “alleged” militants in false encounters. It was alleged in the petition that a number of officers first tortured these persons and later liquidated them in false encounters. In some cases even the dead bodies were disposed of without completing legal formalities. Petitioner also alleged that some of the killings took place in his presence. When the petitioner allegedly complained against it, lie was falsely implicated in various criminal cases.
The petitioner prayed for holding of an inquiry into these murders by the Director General of CBI or a sitting judge of the High Court, He also sought compensation of Rs 2 lakh to each of the family of the deceased and also sought CRPF or ITBP protection for himself.
