Dear Editor,
I have reason to believe that the letter entitled “Sikhs Question Columbia Chair,” by S. Kuldeep Singh of Toledo, Ohio; published in your esteemed paper (WSN 10/ 21/94) is biased and partial. It is Not a true compete rendue of the visit of Dr. Gurinder Singh Mann of Columbia University to Cleveland. The writer has given the questions which were posed to Dr. Mann but has brushed aside the answers thereto. [Happened to talk to some responsible persons in Cleveland soon after Dr. Mann’s visit. The impression they gave me was quite different from the one S. Kuldeep Singh has tried to convey in his letter. According to them, the Cleveland sangat was impressed by the learning of Dr. Mann and felt satisfied by the answers he gave to their searching questions. So much so, that the Cleveland sangat is taking steps to raise money for the Columbia Chair. Under the circumstances, I would urge the Guru Nanak Foundation of Greater Cleveland to present a true account of Dr. Mann’s visit for the benefit of your readers.
Dr. Joginder S. Ahluwalia, Richmond, CA.
