NEW DELHI: Naib Imam of Jama Masjid Syed Ahmad Bukhari and Qaumi Mushawarat Committee Convenor Jawed Habeeb, threatened to launch a movement against the ruling Congress party in Andhra Pradesh and Kamataka to expose its “doublespeak.”
They told journalists on Oct.17 that Union Welfare Minister Sitaram Kesn’s promise on reservations for Muslims was “bogus.”
They said that while Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao was appeasing Hindus by facilitating the setting up of the Mandir Trust under the auspices of the four Shankaracharyas, Kesri was at- tempting to woo the Muslims with the promising of reservations.
