What is supreme is not the person who occupies the office of the Jathedar of the Akal Takhat but it is the institution of Akal Takhat. ‘The stature of Akal Takhat was not reduced when its Jathedar Aroor Singh gave a saropa to the General Dyer after the Jallianwala Bagh firing. More recently Giani Kirpal Singh lied to the Sikhs on ‘television about the destruction of the Akal Takhat. These Jathedars have been put t0 shame by the Sikh sangat but it does not reduce the stature of the Akal Takhat. In fact it shows that the Sikh Sangat is awake and will not tolerate any one, occupying whatever office, to misuse the high office and indulge in any un panthic activity. I am sure there were supporters of Jathedar Arror Singh and Giani Kirpal Singh and so it docs not Surprise me that there arc supporters now.

Dr. Aulakh has served the Panth well during the past 89 years and has made his place in the Sikh and Khalistan history as a sincere, dedicated and consistent fighter of the Khalistan movement. The history of Khalistan and the atrocities against the Sikhs are being written in the congressional records of the U.S. Congress due to his untiring efforts, He is uncommanding on the basic issue of Khalistan and will not accept anything less than that. That is his biggest quality and we do not see any other leader who can boast of such record. We support his right to condemn other opportunist leaders who change their statements every second day and are spreading confusion ‘among the Sikh sangat about the concepts of Khalistan, (Tohra, Badal, Talwandi, Bamala etc are chips of the same block. Bringing them together by the Jathedar is like forming a club of thugs.)

1) Dr, Aulakh has rightly informed the Sikh sangat about what has been printed in the Indian press. Whether the letter from the Indian Government is genuine or is planted by the Indian Government to malign him must best be answered by the Jathedar himself. Why does he not categorically accept or deny it?

2) The Jathedar, while in England, attended a 7day function ‘which has been described by India Abroad as the Indian Government show. The Indian High Commissioner spent hours almost every day at the function. Why did the Jathedar associate himself with the Indian High Commission? What are the reasons for issuing him the passport but refusing the same for Simranjit Singh Mann? Why did the Jathedar not refute the statements from Mr. Singhvi and other ‘speakers that Sikhs are no different from Hindus and that Guru Gobind Singh wrote the Ramayan etc. The Jathedar is the symbol of Piri and not Min, Why has the stay away from leading the Panth in this hour of crises. The only Piri statement he made in England was that “the days of those who advocate separatism are over and now stari the era of those who advocate Staying together.” Will be Jathedar elaborate this statement when spoken to a predominantly Hindu gathering. There were no more than 45 Sikhs in the audience.

At best the Jathedar seems to have conducted himself rather awkwardly. The Sikh sangat wants to know whether this was an innocent awkwardness or a planned affair designed by the Indian Government as contained in the letter and as supported by the Jathedar’s own actions during this trip. People in the L. A. area he was escorted most of the time by people who have the reputation of being the Indian Government agents. Joginder Singh Ahluwalia Pasadena, CA.
