SRINAGAR: The Bandh crippled life in the Kashmir Valley ones the y while Army troops shot dead six militants, captured 10 Others including three intruders and, seized arms and ammunition ‘during overnight operations in the Valley.

A Defense Ministry spokesman ‘Said five militants were shot dead by army troops in a fieree encounter in Mukim village in the frontier district of Kupwara early on Sept.24. The encounter was Sparked off by the militants who Opened fire on the troops who were conducting a house to house Search. The operation was in Progress when last reports were received.

Another militant fell to the bullets of the Army troops at Bubamag in the same district, the spokesman said.

He said Bubamag along with Luderwan and Satsalyur were Scaled by the troops for searches. A Pakistan trained militant of Al Burq was apprehended.

Meanwhile, shops and business establishments, government and semi government offices, educational institutions, banks, remained closed and transport off the roads for the second successive day on Saturday.

The call for Saturday’s bandh was given by the All Party Hurnyat Conference to focus the attention of world bodies towards alleged human rights violations by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The spokesman said three infiltrators were arrested by the Army troops in curfew bound five km border belt in Baramulla sector on Friday evening. They were trying to sneak into Kashmir Valley from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir when troops who were patrolling the area intercepted them. They were asked to surrender and all then they were arrested, the spokesman said.

He said Amy troops raided two main militant hideouts at Jathar and Kadipora in Baramulla district.

Troops detected and defused a powerful explosive device planted by militants on main road at Sadoonara in the same district.

Six more militants including a Pakistan trained militant of AlJehad and a local trained militant of Hizbul Mujahideen were apprehended by the troops from Badgam, Anantnag and Snnagar along with a rifle and five magazines, Four Kashmir militants’ escaped from police custody while they ‘were being handed over to the J&K police here on Friday, a report from Shimla said.
