CHANDIGARH: The war of words between G. S, Tohra, president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, and Dr. Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, general secretary of the Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, has finally, gone to the court with the Judicial Magistrate G.S. Matharoo here order by Mr. Tohra to appear before on November 8.

The court made out a prima face case of defamation against Tohra for having issued a press statement in July leveling charges of corruption against Ahluwalia. He was reported as having said that the general secretary Ahluwalia, who is also the chairman of the Gum Gobind Singh Foundation Properties Trust has “gobbled up” the trust. The news item was carried by different newspapers, Edi+ tors of the newspapers had in their reply affirmed that they stood by

their reports quoting Tohra. The executive committee of the foundation authorized’ Ahluwalia to resort in legal remedies against the defamatory and derogatory statements issued the SGPC chief, A legal notice was served to Tohra lo apologize within 15 days for the false statement. But he has yet to act as desired. Tohra was also a trust member till early this year along with Beant Singh, the Punjab Chief Minister. According to Ahluwalia the SGPC chief tendered his resignation after the former started a crusade against misuse of the funds of the SGPC for political purposes by Tohra in particular.
