NEW DELHI: The AISSF (Manjit faction) Friday denied that ii it had given up the demand for Khalistan, but said it would consist contesting the polls in Punjab if the Indian federal government “publicly admitted its mistake of postponing previous elections”.
At a press conference, four AISSF leaders, who took part in Thursday’s talks on the Punjab situation, denied reports that the AISSF has given up its demand for Khalistan and said the media was “misled” by the government on this issue.
“We came to take part in talks, not as sycophants of the government but to air our grievances and to make government realize its follies committed in the past”, they said.
The press conference was jointly addressed by Sarbjit Singh Sohal, Harminder Singh Gill, Sarbjit Singh Jammu and Balvinder Singh Khojkipur.
