NEW DELHI: A galaxy of film stars including N.T. Rama Rao(till recently the chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Rajesh Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Raj Babbar and Sri Devi figure among the list of artistes from the glamour world against whom income tax demands of more than Rs.100,000 has been made, parliament was informed Friday. Jaya Prada however tops the list with outstanding income tax of Rs.156.51 lakhs, followed by the late Ranbir Raj Kapoor with 86.65 lakhs with the Sri Devi taking the third position with 56.46 lakhs, the minister of state for finance, Rameshwar Thakur said, While NTR has Rs.5.96 lakh income tax outstanding against his name, Rajesh Khanna has R.s 38.67 lakhs, Shatrughan Sinha Rs.17.60 lakhs and Raj Babbar 16.46 lakhs, he said. Prominent among other film personalities who figure in the list are Rekha Ganeshan, Shabana Azmi, Dilip Kumar, Hema Malini, Kamal Hasan, S.P.Balasubramaniam, Amjad Khan, Shashi Kapoor, Dr. Sheeram Lagoo, Danny Denzongpa, Dada Kondke, and the late Prem Nazir and Kishore Kumar, he said. The minister said a large part of the demand is disputed in appeals and steps have been taken for their expeditious disposal.
