TOHANA: Twenty six persons were killed in indiscriminate firing here Thursday evening. The police blame it on the Punjab militants.

According to eyewitnesses, an unspecified number or men travelling in a chocolate Maruti car entered Tohana from Jamalpur at 5:15 p.m., and shot dead two persons riding a motor cycle before heading for the main market. Seven persons, mostly shopkeepers, were shot inside their shops.

The assailants then proceeded towards the Grain Market where three more persons were shot.

They killed three persons at a liquor vend near the local railway Station.

On the Symbol Road the men shot four workers of Haryana Cotton Mill before fleeing towards Punjab.

Police officials believe that the killers must be hiding somewhere in Haryana.
