PATIALA: The army and the paramilitary forces undertook search operations to nab militants in some colonies of the city on Sunday morning.
The searches here conducted in Model Town, Gurbax Colony, Bishan Nagar, Dhillon Colony, Triouri town, Dukhniwaran area, Badunagar, Tafazalpura and Ajit Nagar in early hours by the police and the paramilitary forces while the army stood on guard.
The authorities had reportedly received intelligence reports that some hardcore militants, who had earlier, slipped from the rural areas of the district, had entered Patiala city on Saturday night. “Attempts of the militants to strike in a big way were foiled as the administration sought the help of the army”, official sources said.
The army units have been deployed in the areas of Bhadson-Amloh, Fatehgarh-Bassi Pathana, Samana-Patran and Rajpura-Banur identified as “sensitive” by the administration.
