CHANDIGARH: Mohamed Mustafa, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ropar district, who exposed Chandigarh S.S.P. Sumedh Sainis extra-legal affairs, has been thrown out of the post and transferred to a relatively unimportant position as Commandant, P.A.P., Bahadurgarh.

Mustafa had written to the Director-General of Police, Punjab, sometime ago alleging that Saini had killed a Sikh youth belonging to Mohali and had thrown the dead body in Ropar district. Saini then telephoned Mustafa asking him to own up the killing but he refused. Mustafa also alleged that Chandigarh policemen had killed in Ropar district the relations of a Babbar Khalsa activist Balwinder Singh Jattana.

After this exposure, it was a foregone conclusion that Mustafa would be shifted from the district. It is significant to note that the — powers that be do not allow any police officer in Punjab to stay in an important position if he does not carry out the wishes of Delhi to bump off Sikh youths in an extra-judicial manner. However, those who willingly carry out the executions are not only punished but are handsomely rewarded with cash and promotions. No enquiry is held against them even if they commit the gravest of crimes.

Meanwhile, Punjab police chief K.P.S. Gill has ordered a series of transfers to affect police chiefs of Ferozepore, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Tam Taran and Sangrur districts. Khanna, Amritsar City and Jagraon, too, will have new S.Ps, M.S. Bhullar, I .G. PAP. Will now also be I.G. Border Range with headquarter at Amritsar.
