BHOPAL(PTI): Relatives of central ministers and former chief ministers dominate the Congress I list of nominees for the next month’s assembly poll in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Leading the pack is Siyama Charan Shukla, former chief minister and elder brother of Parliamentary affairs minister Vidya Charan Shukla.

While S.C.Shukla has been chief minister of Madhya Pradesh thrice, his younger brother, who became a member of Parliament in 1957, has never contested any assembly election.

Ajay Singh, son of human re source development minister Arjun Singh, is contesting on the Congress (I) I ticket from Bhojpur constituency in Raisen district. He faces former chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party veteran Sunderlal Patwa,

While Ajay Singh is contesting from Bhojpur for the first time, Patwa is staking his claim for the seat for the third time in a row.

Ajay had won the by poll from Churhat assembly segment in “85 after his father quit the seat on becoming Punjab governor.

Ajay once again won the Churhat by poll in “91 with Arjun Singh vacating the seat again on becoming a union minister,

Arun Vora, son of Uttar Pradesh governor Motilal Vora, will con test from Durg constituency. His father had won this seat five times in a row since “72.

Ratnesh Solomon, brotherinlaw of Cong-I MP Ajit Jogi, is the party nominee from Nohta constituency in Damoh district.

Solomon contested the last assembly polls as an independent and lost to BJP candidate on Prakash Rai by over 4,000 votes.
