NEW DELHI: Janata Dal headed by V.P.Singh won all the three Lok Sabha seats from Bihar the results of which were announced by India’s controversial elections commission after delaying the matter for several days.
The Dal wrested Gaya Lok Sabha seat from B.J.P. and retained the other two seats of Barh and Madhepura., The by-elections to these scats were caused by the death of candidates during the previous elections,
Of the 15 Lok Sabha by-elections in all the states held last week, Congress (I) won eight seats, Janata Dal three, B.J.P, two, Forward Block one.
The Congress (I) failed to dislodge Janata Dal from its Bihar stronghold. The Dal candidates won by impressive margins against Congress (I), B.J.P and Samajwadi Janata Dal candidates. Chief Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav alleged Congress (I) and B.J.P. colluded in the Bihar elections and the dividing line between the two parties was completely obliterated. The Chief Minister also said that the election commission acted in a partisan manner.
Of the 54 Lok Sabha seats from Bihar, Janata Dal and its allies controlled 48 seats while B.J.P. and Congress (I) had five and one seats respectively.
