CHANDIGARH: The leader of the opposition in the Haryana assembly, Sampat Singh, Thursday urged the chief minister, Bhajan Lal to order a high level inquiry in to the removal of 15 police check-points in the Sirsa areas bordering Punjab despite the waning by the Hissar
Superintendent of police to his Sirsa counterpart regarding the militants’ plan to strike in a big way Condemning the killing of 16 persons in Sirsa last Saturday, Sampat Singh said at a Press conference that it was shocking that the district authorities ignored the Hissar SP’s message in spite of a spurt of activities in the region, in the past two and a half months. This incident has, in fact, ex-posed the claim made by the chief minister recently after a BJP leader who shot dead at Panipat that the authorities have taken adequate steps to check militant activities in Haryana, said Sampat Singh, Criticizing the arrest of Gurmesh Bishnoi, former chairman of the Haryana Public Service Commission, and his detention or 12 days without trail, the former home minister said Bhajan Lal is being vindictive.
Afraid of the people’s wrath, the authorities had kept him at the Bhua and Samana police stations in Punjab where he was tortured, alleged Singh.
Singh said he was likely to be arrested on “framed up charges” ‘but will not seek anticipate bail as he is ready to face any inquiry.
Singh lamented that Bhajan Lal has not spared even Dr.J.P.Singh whom he removed from the post of director, Rohtak Medical College, only because he had been appointed by Devi Lal.
