NEW DELHI (PT1): Indian Government plans to fund the Sardar Sarovar project dam either through a joint venture involving three states with private participation or with the setting up of a private company, P.K. Thungon, Minister of state for water resources, told Indian Parliament on Dec.10
‘The process is still on and no final decision has yet been taken, ‘Thungon said during question hour replying to supplementaries from Dr.Subramanian Swamy of Janata Party (People’s Party). ‘Thungon said the joint venture Proposal, prepared by the Gujarat government involves Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and a suitable private party, He said our of the total estimated Cost OF Rs 64.06 billion (at 198687 price level), an expenditure of RS 26.49 billion has been incurred the end of September last.
