KHANNA: B.K.U. leader Balbir Singh Rajewal told the public at an officially convened meeting at Rauni village near here 1st week not to make any complaint about police excesses because the Punjab Governor himself, much less the Deputy Commissioner who organized the meeting, had no control on the forces” and were not likely to do anything to redress their grievances. The police administration he said, was reeking with corruption .Most youths are picked up by the police and are tortured. This process continued for years and in several cases the youths left their homes to take up arms.
The Deputy Commissioner, S.S .Channi, who chaired the meeting, did not rebut the peasant leaders’ charges.
