JALANDHAR: Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner 1.D. Kanwar has sought premature retirement from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), while demanding an independent inquiry into acts of corruption, allegedly being committed by Jalandhar Division Commissioner R.P.S.Pawar. In a communication sent to Punjab Chief Secretary A.S.Chatha, on Dec.15, the DC, who is under transfer to Jalandhar as director land records, alleged that Pawar had been indulging in large scale corruption by “directly approaching subordinate officers of this (Gurdaspur) district.”
The communication said “all cases of corruption malpractices will be placed before the inquiry agency with full facts and documents.”
While seeking premature retirement under the All India Service. Rules, Kanwar said his communication to the Chief Secretary “may kindly be treated as a three month notice effective from December 1993, as required under the relevant rule.” The communication added “necessary action may kindly be initiated to accept my request.”
Meanwhile, it was reliably learnt that Pawar had been summoned to Chandigarh.
