LUDHIANA: The 100 companies of the Central Reserve Police Force, that were pulled out of Punjab about two months ago for election duties in the other states, have returned to the border state.
‘The return took place during the last 10 days and CRPF jawans are now again visible on roadside duties. A senior CRPF officer admitted that they have come back for good.
This has happened contrary to the claim of Chief Minister Beant Singh that this force will not be recalled as Punjab has returned to normal; the state government’s expectations that it would have great financial relief with the withdrawal of the CRPF too have been belied with this development.
