CHANDIGARH: Justice J.S. Sekhon and Justice S.S Rathor disposed a writ petition filed by ‘Simranjt Singh Mann President, Shiromani Akali Dal (M) after obtaining an undertaking from the Punjab State that Mann will not be detained or arrested without following due course of law.

In the writ petition Mann had alleged that he was not allowed to prefer his function as leader of his party and whenever he went to address public meetings functions or attended bhog ceremonies, he was detained by the police without following due process of law and was released in the evening or alter a day or so. Mann had given a number of instances of his

Detention and had also reproduced Press reports regarding his arrest or detention when he went to attended the bhog ceremonies at Nathu Ka Burj, Khalsa College, Jalandhar ex. The Punjab statin its reply had denied the arrests or detention of Mann. Mann in his replication affidavit had reiterated his allegations.

After hearing for Mann, the court took an undertaking from the state that Mann will into be detained or amassed in future without following due process of law.

Mann was represented by Ranjan Lakhanpal, Atul Lakhanpal and C_L.Lakhanpal and the state was represented by A.P.S Kang.
