The Queens University of Belfast has indicated its interest to myself and the Department of Social Anthropology in two Sikh post-doctoral fellowships. The purpose of these fellowships is to recruit scholars who:
- Will consider historical and cultural issues affecting the advancement of the Sikh struggle for independence
- Are interested in relating the Gurus models of social and political development to the workings of a modern Sikh: state.
Despite a large Sikh population there is no center for Sikh studies in the UK. The present budget cost for each fellowship is Pounds 15,662. Funding is required before these fellowships can be offered and contributions are solicited. For further information contact Dr.Joyce Pettigrew, Department of Social Anthropology, Queens University, Belfast BT7 INN. Northern Ireland.
