BOMBAY: A lower caste police official was stoned to death by upper caste residents of Pintri Deshmukh village in Parbani district for the offence of standing on a step of a Hanuman Temple according to a spokesman of the Campaign for Human Rights Organization here.
Vivek Pandit of the organization said that the name of the police official was Ambadas Savane (30). He was caught in the rain and took shelter on the steps of the temple where rites were being performed by upper castes residents of the village. The D.I.G. Police Charan Singh Azad confirmed the death although he said he had no details with him.
