LONDON: The British authorizes have rejected the Asylum application of the LTTE leader Krishna Kumar alias Commander Kitty asserting that there was no well-found fear of persecution if he returns to Sri Lanka
Kittu’s lawyer has been informed by the home office that there has been no change in the position since the notice of intentions was issued to him on July 30,1991. Informing him that the home secretary was “minded to refuse” his application for political Asylum”.
In the deportation notice of July 30,1991 the LTTE leader was asked to leave Britain for the country of his choice by Aug.7,1991. But later he was granted two weeks extension to make additional submissions in support of his plea for political Asylum.
At the expiry of the two weeks’ time on August 21, 1991 the home office informed Kittu’s lawyers that the LTTE leader’s Asylum application has been finally turned down.
