Sir,

In an article published in the Tribune Chandigarh (June 21,1991) V.N.Naraysnan wrote that as a minister in the Congress cabinet of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi Reo had been an outstanding success and that he is the most suitable person for the govt. I do not agree.

Was not the critical portfolio of Home not handled by Rao when Indira Gandhi was assassinated and the anti-Sikh riots took place in 19847 Was he not mentioned in the CBI’s FIR in the St Keith case relating to the alleged foreign account held by former Prime Minister’s son Ajeya Singh? As Defence Minister was he not responsible for sending the army as I.P.K.F. to Sri Lanka which angered the Tamils and brought about the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi? With eight children of his own how can he expect to solve the population problem of the country by providing birth control guidance to the masses and poverty hunger and illiteracy? Even before taking over as Prime Minister he brought about the cancelation of the elections in Punjab which the Tribune has been so ardently advocating so how can he be expected to solve the Punjab problem and stop innocent killings of Sikh young boys?

A person who is not even elected as a Member of Parliament is least fit to be the Prime Minister of the country and does not represent the masses.

The July 12 letter published in your newspaper echoes the sentiments of the masses correctly.
